Last year SABC in partnership with SHREWSBURY HERITAGE CELEBRATIONS produced a weekend on CIVIL WAR COMMEMORATION
The Sealed Knot re enactment group were invited to parade the streets of Shrewsbury on SATURDAY JULY 7 & SUNDAY JULY 8 and perform battle re-enactments in the Quarry.
There were approximately 500 soldiers from across the country, expected to attend this event and some required camping up to 4 days before and after the event. The accommodate this many people and all there unusual attire, like horses, gun powder and weaponry etc. the West Midland Show Ground was the most ideal site.
I met with Gary Tudor and the officers of the Sealed Knot a few months before and all requests were able to be met for the comfort of the soldiers, in fact the Sealed Knot said it was one of the best locations that they had been offered.
Unfortunately the country was drowned with unprecedented amount of rain and many of troops were unable to leave their flooded homes. There were approximately 300 members who camped at the West Mid showground that weekend and every facility and request was met.
With great thanks to Gary Tudor.

I would like to thank Gary & the team at West Midlands showgound for again having the ground, buildings & facilities in excellent condition for the weekend events that Shrewsbury & District Dog Training Club hold. It is extremely comforting to know that nothing is too much trouble & that I can ask Gary & his team anything & I know before I ask that everything has been done. It is paramount to a large dog agility event, that has 220 camping units on the ground & competing happening 2 days with over 7500 runs that the ground & facilites are excellent, & that our competitors are happy. People come back to the show year after year after year as they love the ground & the condition it is always in. Agility people will not run on ground that is poor so it is prove of the excellent facitilies that each year we are over subscribed to the show & that many people have to camp in local camp sites & drive many miles to compete at the West Midlands Showground.
Thank you to Gary & his team for making 2 events this year go very well due to the hard work that is put in to make the ground so superb.
