Facilities at The Showground

Excellent Facilities for Events Large and Small

The West Midland Showground is a multi purpose venue hosting a wide variety of events from April to November.

The Showground is 56 acres of beautiful Shropshire Countryside in the Shadow of Darwin’s House, Shrewsbury Castle and within 10 minutes walk of the Beautiful Medieval County town of Shrewsbury.

The site is flat and has access from 4 gates,these are large enough to handle any vehicles that require access.

The showground can be hired completely with or without buildings; there are 200 stables available for hire to suit equine events. If no event is taking place they can be hired separately by negotiation. There are also sheep pens and cattle sheds with a milking parlour.

The site has a President's Pavilion that can cater for 70 people on each floor and is suitable for Conference and Banqueting. The building can be set up to contain a bar and we can also cater for most customer requirements.

The Members’ Pavilion is able to cater for Balls, Charity Functions and Weddings. There is a bar in the Building that is fully licensed and we can cater for up to 250 diners or 360 delegates. The building has a full marquee lining.

There are also ranges of toilet blocks on the ground including disabled toilets and a shower block housing 4 electric showers.

The Showground also has a permanent touring caravan/ motor home site with full electric and water hook-ups.

We are also able to accommodate larger Caravan rallies and have several Elsan points on the site. We are also very fortunate that we have a grandstand capable of seating 800 people over looking the main ring, which gives prime viewing of all activities taking place there.

We have two further Horse rings that are permanently fenced and a further two fields that can be used for that purpose. They are also excellent for weekend events where club camping is required.

Ample parking is available both on the Showground and on overspill fields adjacent to the Showground.

Conference & Banqueting

The Showground and buildings are the largest conference venue in Shrewsbury.

The Showground is a very suitable venue for all conference and banqueting requirements, the site is 56 acres so we can offer full team building activities bespoke for your needs.

Both the Members’ and President's Pavilions are within easy access of gate 2 on the showground and have ample parking facilities for up to 2000 cars. The President’s Pavilion is ideally situated overlooking the main ring on the showground and can cater for up to 70 delegates on each floor the building.

The Members’ Pavilion can cater for up to 360 delegates, it also has access for wheel chairs. The rooms can be organised in boardroom, cabaret or theatre style and equipment can be obtained to suit all your needs. All catering can be arranged to meet your wishes with some of the best caterers in Shropshire.

All weddings at the West Mid Showground are tailored to meet our individual Bride and Grooms requirements.

The Members’ Pavilion has its own lawn which is excellent for photograph opportunities and a seating area can be arranged outside. The Showground has the River Severn as a natural boundary on two sides of the Showground and is accessible for photographs.

The Members’ Pavilion is situated within gate 2 on the Showground, and unlimited parking is available on the Showground.

The room can seat up to 250 for sit down meal, and is licensed for up to 360 guests for an evening party. The bar is licensed from 10.00 am until 12.00 midnight.

The room can be altered to cater for smaller parties, it contains a licensed bar with reasonable prices, we also have excellent caterers that can be organised whether you wish to have a full five course meal that is silver served or a finger buffet.

The licensee is able to cater for all your drink requirements and will happily discuss this with you if you have any specific wishes.

The Members’ Pavilion has a full marquee lining and we see the room as a blank canvas that you can dress it in your own unique style.

Tables and chairs can be hired to meet your requirements. The chairs are available in 2 colours Burgundy red and Peach depending on the numbers required. Tables are available in either 6ft or 5ft rounds; we can also cater for a top table using long tables.
Linen can be sourced to meet your requirements and coordinate with your colour scheme. This will be at an additional cost. Please bear in mind that the Members’ Pavilion is a non smoking venue.

We also have the services of a very experienced local wedding/event planner who can help to ensure that your day goes without any stress. Her details can be given on request.

Entertainment can be arranged to suit you individual requirements whether it be string quartet for reception drinks or pipers to welcome your guests and pipe you to top table. Bands and discos can also be arranged for your evening party. Licensed entertainment is available until 12.00 midnight.

If your requirements are above the numbers that the indoor facilities can cater for, we can arrange for Marquees of any size to be erected on the ground to meet your needs We have links with several leading local hotels for overnight accomodation and contact details can be given.
